  5. 1.4.1. MIDI Port Setup
  6.  
  7. When first time you launch MIDIGraphy, the "MIDI port setup" dialog will
  8. appear. Choose one of MIDI ports to use:
  9.    * Choose the "Modem port" item or the "Printer port" item if you use a
  10.      MIDI sound generator connected to the modem or printer port of your
  11.      Macintosh.
  12.    * Choose the "Use MIDI manager" item if you use MIDIGraphy with Apple
  13.      MIDI Manager and a compatible sound device.
  14.    * Choose the "Use OMS" item if you use MIDIGraphy with Open Music System.
  15.      Then choose the input port name and the output port name to use by the
  16.      popup menus.
  17.    * Choose the "Use QuickTime" item if you use QuickTime 2.0 or later as a
  18.      sound generator.
  19.    * If you don't need to play back your sequences, you can choose the
  20.      "None" item.
  21.  
  22. If you want to change the MIDI port setup after you launch MIDIGraphy,
  23. choose the menu item "MIDI > MIDI port setup".

  25.    * NOTE to use with Apple MIDI Manager:
  26.         o If you use MIDIGraphy with Apple MIDI Manager, you have to setup
  27.           port connections after you choose the "Use MIDI Manager" item on
  28.           the "MIDI port setup" dialog. You can setup port connections by
  29.           using the PatchBay application provided with Apple MIDI Manager.
  30.           For details, refer documents of Apple MIDI Manager or online-help
  31.           of the PatchBay application.
  32.    * NOTE to use with OMS:
  33.         o If you use MIDIGraphy with OMS, you have to setup the "OMS setup"
  34.           before you configure on MIDIGraphy. For details about the "OMS
  35.           setup", refer the documents of OMS.
  36.    * NOTES to use with QuickTime:
  37.         o While sequence is in playback, a program change event might be
  38.           executed on time later than expected.
  39.         o You must install both QuickTime 2.0 (or later) and "QuickTime
  40.           Musical Instruments". These extensions must be placed in the
  41.           extensions folder in your system folder.
  42.         o To use MIDI input device via the QuickTime, you have to setup
  43.           devices by the "QuickTime Settings" control panel.

  47. 1.4.2. Loading Sequence File
  48.  
  49. Choosing the menu item "File > Open..." prompts for a sequence file to open.
  50. MIDIGraphy supports to read the SMF format 0/1, the RCP file, the SNG file
  51. and the SLG file.
  52. If you select an LHA archive in the file open dialog, one more dialog which
  53. allows you to choose a file in the selected LHA archive will appear. Choose
  54. a file (SMF, RCP, SNG or SLG), and click OK. MIDIGraphy can load a file from
  55. the LHA archive directly without your extracting process.

  59. 1.4.3. Playing Sequences
  60.  
  61. To play the currently open sequence, choose the menu item "MIDI > Play >
  62. all" or click the play button (with a triangle icon  ) on the control bar
  63. positioned at the top of the sequence window.
  64. To stop playing your sequence, choose the menu item "MIDI > Stop" or click
  65. the stop button (with a square icon  ) on the control bar.
